Spear horse hair

This ornament is used on some long weapons, mainly on spears, it is made with long synthetic fibers. It has to be placed around the lower part of the spear tip, between the stick and the iron head.

It got its name due to its aspect, because it looks like horse mane hair («Qiang Ying» in Chinese). Today, it is only used for a decorative purpose. But formerly, its purpose was to distract the opponent by preventing its glance from focusing on the weapon tip. Synthetic horse hair, to replace worn hair from, for example, a spear head. Red only.
